A Modest Paradise

Coimbra, Portugal

2022

Project Description:

Creating a personal haven, "A Modest Paradise" is a project born from my desire to craft a future home for my wife and I. This design embodies a commitment to comfort, ease of maintenance, and affordability without compromising on quality.

Drawing inspiration from the architectural legacies of Frank Lloyd Wright and McInnes Gardner Architects, the project encapsulates the timeless principles of these visionary architects.

At the core of "A Modest Paradise" is a pragmatic yet elegant roofing solution—a single-ply membrane. This choice not only ensures long-term durability but also simplifies maintenance, allowing us to focus on enjoying our home rather than worrying about constant upkeep.

The gutters, fashioned from powder-coated aluminium, echo the project's ethos of functionality and aesthetics. They efficiently manage rainwater, complementing the design's practicality while adding a touch of visual finesse to the exterior.

The interior spaces are thoughtfully designed to optimise comfort and functionality. Drawing from Frank Lloyd Wright's principles of organic architecture, the layout seamlessly blends with its natural surroundings. The spaces flow harmoniously, creating an inviting and liveable atmosphere.

Taking cues from McInnes Gardner Architects, the design embraces simplicity, creating a timeless appeal that doesn't rely on extravagant elements. This approach ensures a home that stands the test of time, both in terms of aesthetics and practicality.

"A Modest Paradise" is more than just a house; it's a manifestation of our dreams and aspirations. It represents a commitment to building a home that not only shelters us but also nurtures our well-being. It's a reflection of our values—modesty, comfort, and a deep appreciation for architectural excellence.
